Turning 10

So sorry everyone, I have not posted since June!
I turned 10 on July 15th.  My party theme was "Harry Potter."
We did a bunch of fun things.
First we all got "Sorted" by the "Sorting Hat"(a sparkly plastic party hat).  Mom was the voice of the Hat.  I was in Ravenclaw.
Then we played Pin the Glasses on Harry Potter.  My Aunt Mary drew the picture- she did an awesome job!

Jacqueline and Athena tied for closest- no one got it exactly.

After that we played "Spell Tag."  Then we played pretend Quidditch.

Then we had "Potions Class" with Professor Snape (a.k.a. Dad). We made glitter glue, and a potion with melted gummy bears.
Then-  Dinnertime!   We had lasagna, green beans, milk, and crusty garlic French bread.  Yummy!
After that was cake. My cake was a golden snitch!!!  I designed the white wings.  My Mom made a chocolate cake and frosted it with yellow vanilla buttercream frosting.

After that, present time!!!  I got so many awesome presents!  I got lots of books and stuffed animals.

Then was a movie.  We watched "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

Then we slept on our hide-a-bed.

Playdate = fun, fun, fun, fun!

The Bassets came over for a playdate- All 4!!
First Athena and I played imaginary games for awhile.   Then we put on a play called "The 2 Kingdoms" with  My Little Ponies.  It was fun!
And then, we jumped on the trampoline 'till Mom called us to come watch a movie- The Last Unicorn.
Then Athena had to go home, and I went to Girl's Club(See about this in another post:), the final project and potluck.
At the potluck there was:  2 kinds of lazagna, 2 macaroni salads, and a fruit salad.  Then everyone presented their project.  Leah did Marie Curie, Hannah did Diane Fossey, and me and Mara and Seneca did Georgia O'Keeffe.
For dessert, gigantic banana splits in two foil-lined rain gutters! Yum:)

Grandpa and Grandma's beach resort :)

Grandma and Grandpa Blanchard rented a beach resort for their anniversary!

They invited us over for an afternoon because Grandma wanted to do something nice for us.  She wanted to because Mom had been stuck at  home with no car, and that was because of Dad's car accident almost 3 weeks ago.

We went to Winco to get some snacks.  First we went to the fruit aisle and got cantaloupe, Golden Delicious apples, grapes and fresh apricots. Then we went to the bulk aisle and got: gummy peach rings, gummy  grapefruit, gummy butterflies, gummy-like dehydrated apples, dried papaya, dried mango, Trail mix, chocolate and vanilla wafers, chocolate-covered pretzels and
yogurt-covered pretzels- treats to celebrate the beginning of summer.

Then, after a 2 and 1/2 hr drive, we got to the resort.
We looked out on the balcony.

And then, we went swimming in their pool.

First, I swam with Grandma in a zebra floaty.  Then Grandpa caught me.
I told him I didn't want to swim, but Grandpa insisted, so he taught me how to kick by saying: "Kick like you're mad!  Kick like you're mad!"  So I kicked and he said: "That's great!  Linda (Grandma), come see how Dorathy kicks!"
And then I said,"That's because I was mad!" and Grandpa laughed.

Then we went in the spa because I was old enough!

Then we went to Mo's (An awesome seafood restaurant) for lunch.
I ordered off the kid's menu.

I got the "Shrimp Basket"- 4 pieces of breaded  shrimp and French fries. Julie couldn't finish her lunch, so I finished her "Clam Strips"- pieces of breaded clam.

Then we went to the beach.

Christopher, me, and Grandpa built a sandcastle and tried to protect it from the waves, but the waves got the sandcastle (even with our large protective trench) in the end.

Then we went home, eating lots of snacks on the way.

The Taming Of The Shrew

We went to a home-school production of a Shakespeare play:  The Taming Of The Shrew.
There was so many treats at intermission I had a hard time choosing!  In the end, I chose:  A brownie, a whole-wheat brownie, hot chocolate, a pig-in-a-blanket, and 2 pieces of homemade vanilla saltwater taffy.
It was delicious!
I wish you could've come:(

We have a new cat from the Hedlund's litter named Silvia (Shakespeare) because she is white with silvery-gray patches.

Piano Recital- gulp!

I had a piano recital.  It was scary-  gulp.
I played Bill Grogan's goat, There Is A Green Hill Far Away, Largo, Mexican hand clap (Chipanecas), and Barn Dance.
Sister Mattern(my piano teacher) served Peanut-Butter "Rice Krispie" treats and cubed watermelon and cantaloupe.
Then she gave me and her other students a porcelain figure of Mozart. It was funny because it was only his head.  It's called a "bust".

Anne Frank Ballet

We( That is to say, S, C, A, Me, and Aunt Mary) went to a ballet of part of the life of Anne Frank.  It was very sad, as some ballets are.
It was mostly about their life in the attic before the concentration camp.  I really liked it.
I wish I could have taken pictures.
